The Telos work proposal system (WPS) has shown itself to be very valuable in building the Telos network and community. So far, work proposals have been created by community members who see a need that they themselves would like to fill. This is fine for the early days of the network when there are ample needs and few workers to fill them all. As the network matures, however, it will become important for the community to identify needs of the network even without having a person or team that can immediately address it. Over time it is natural that many needs will be recognized by the community first and requests for proposals will be issued that many members may seek to fill — often with competing proposals.
Many organizations use an RFP (request for proposal) system to solicit bids. As Telos grows, adding RFWPs give the community a way to identify a need then look at multiple approaches to addressing the need. I would like to kick off this process with some needs that I would like to see addressed via WP. My hope is that this will begin a process of community discussion to further refine these projects and gauge the community interest in them, and then to solicit WPs from people who feel they could address these needs. Anyone can suggest RFWPs. In time, I would like to see the community generating a regular stream of suggestions, RFWPs, discussions, and proposals.
To begin discussions and solicit more ideas, I am proposing the following Telos RFWPs:
