Dear WordProof User,
Welcome to Telos! Congratulations on adding WordProof to your WordPress site. You are part of a growing movement that will add greater verifiability to online publishing. The Telos community is excited to be a part of this.
Telos is a blockchain which is a global network of computers that record data and transactions in a way that can never be altered or deleted. Because Telos is decentralized, no one company, group or government can force it to change the information recorded. You will be using Telos to prove the publishing time of your articles. Other users and organizations will use Telos in a variety of ways that also depend on its immutability and freedom from any central control.
Blockchain technologies have come a long way since Bitcoin was first launched in 2009. Telos was launched in December 2018 and is one of the most advanced blockchains in the world. It is the fastest and highest capacity blockchain (tied with its sister chain EOS). Telos also stands out as both the most decentralized of all blockchains, making it more resistant to any central control, and as the most advanced governance blockchain. Telos users vote to determine which nodes will operate the network at any moment. They also vote on the rules of the community, how to resolve disputes, and how to spend network funds. WordProof was actually funded in this way, by Telos users voting to grant funds to create and promote it. Telos and Van Ons are using this groundbreaking worker proposal system to fund important open source software development, among other priorities (things like expanding into underserved communities, making the Telos chain carbon-neutral, and more). These governance functions also make Telos the only public blockchain in the world with the ability to recover lost or stolen accounts through our user-elected, smart contract-managed dispute resolution system (called arbitration).
Now that you have a Telos account, you have a passport to interacting with the blockchain and its rapidly growing ecosystem of decentralized apps (or “dapps”), games, smart contracts and token economies. You can also participate in the Telos governance. One great way to start is to download the Sqrl wallet which lets you access your account, manage tokens, vote on various proposals, and interact with dapps and smart contracts. For your security, please only download Sqrl wallet from the downloads page of the Telos Foundation.
Telos and WordPress.org are naturally aligned in our missions of empowering the sharing and validating of person-to-person interactions across the world without undue interference. This is a rapidly growing field and is, frankly, how the Internet is likely to operate for everyone in the near future. If you are interested in learning more about the Telos blockchain, we have a variety of information resources to help you. Whatever level you may choose to participate with Telos, we are very glad to have you. There is a robust community of Telos users that is remarkably positive and productive compared to many social media communities. Please consider saying hello in Telegram, Twitter or elsewhere and let us know how you are using Telos. You will find people eager to help, teach and learn.
